Things I like: watching my aspiring prima ballerina at dance class, hanging out with a good friend, fabulous princess art projects, spending time with family, and not that I saved the best for last or anything...but Pizza Factory breadsticks also have to be mentioned. All of these things just so happened to be part of my day today, so I felt I had to document it. I mentioned in last night's post that Spenc has been out of town, and even though I had to get a little dig in, it really has been a legitimately necessary trip. I have been kind of having a pity party, though. I have struggled with making our new digs really feel like home, and when Trin kept asking to "go home," my heart just wanted to break.
Well, even though the last box was unpacked two days ago, and I've managed to hang some stuff on the walls prior to today, my real breakthrough came this morning. I do some of my best thinking in the shower, mainly because it's three feet of space that is only inhabited by myself for 10 minutes or so. I specify shower, too, because if I were to have said the bathroom, this would have meant something entirely different in my husband's world. Focus, Kelli. Back to my pivotal train of thought...I was reflecting on how much a few days can change. Trin is in preschool two days a week for two and a half hours. She loves her teacher, I love the facility, and already her class is working on sight words! She recognizes I, see, me, and too...and that's just from this week. She's also in two different dance classes, not because I'm one of those Nazi Utah moms that insists on her child being the best (duh, she already is!) but because the fees were so cheap. She, of course, loves these as well. P.S. So does Mac. He was literally mimicing EVERYTHING the girls were doing in their ballet warm-up. Don't tell Dad.
Trin, now, has told me several times that this feels like home to her. We had a desert "welcome to the neighborhood" shindig last night, I'm hanging out with friends, and life is starting to return to something resembling normalcy since we left on our three-week vacation at the beginning of August.
Pass the warm fuzzy jar, things are looking up! And yes, that is a picture of my two lovely children mopping the floor. They totally wanted to!
